but, for you, I was thinking since they were acting like pets, maybe they are trying to tell you you are accepted and belong?
But I agree with them that your own feelings and what else is going on in the dream, how you felt about them in the dream (and outside) and your personal circumstances are most important. What "new" different activities were you doing that day/recently? New thoughts?
I would think the ferret is just there to "ferret out" the truth/information
