HIV is not all that easy to contract. Your mother in law would have had to stick herself with a needle that had been used on one of the babies. One cannot get HIV from normal contact, such as rocking and cuddling babies. In fact, you are more likely to get the flu or other viruses like that because they are airborne. HIV is not.
I know it is a scary thing. And I remember when I was pregnant that I was a total anxiety basketcase! LOL!
Also, from what I understand about HIV, just getting someone else's blood on your hand is not a problem.... only if it gets into your blood, like getting stuck with a needle.
