if you and your doctor decide on a stimulant, try to watch the dose. ideally, your prescriber would keep on an eyes on things, but...some docs are kinda slack. others are very reluctant to prescribe stimulants. it really depends.

when i was on stimulants, ritalin and focalin were more compatible with my 'atypical' tranquilizer than amphetamines. could be the tranquilizer i was taking. i have an acquaintance who takes an adderall xr in the AM, a seroquel xr in the PM, and everything's fine.

always at least try an all day preparation before the old school tablets, if possible. an xr capsule in the AM and a tablet later on is not unheard of, but i do think its frowned upon.

i dont know much about the non-stimulant options. wellbutrin is one, sometimes. so are effexor and i think tofranil. straterra...never tried, shrink said its not that great.

maybe modafanil? i dont know what the rules are where you live, but here modafanil prescriptions can get refills, so that saves time and trouble over having to get a new written prescription every.single.time, plus its supposed to have a lower risk of drug-induced psychosis, agitation, dosage escalation, etc.
