The brain doesn't store recordings of events neatly in an archive like a computer. Each time you remember something, the memory changes.
I've noticed so many things I thought happened at a certain time in a certain order happened at a different time in a different order, or were very different from how I remembered them. It's just how the brain works. It's not perfect.
