For me, the issues became pretty big almost immediately afterward.

I have been in therapy a l-o-n-g arse time, LOL! I've tried to "forget" traumatic incidents from the very beginning (age 5) and they've merely come and gone, slamming me each time the memory recurs. So ~ imo, it stinks both ways. Whether you repressed the memories & are now seeking help...or if you find help to deal with things immediately afterward. I guess that it's a life-changing event either way, and we need help adjusting to the world.
