To be honest, they probably see you as a mystery. Private people, whether shy or just quiet, are often misjudged as haughty/snobby. Just remember you are there to work, not to win a popularity contest. Someone who is worth your time will be patient and will wait to see what kind of person you really are. As long as you are true to who you are, and show your own kindness and patience toward others, people will gravitate towards you.
