I'm sorry you had a bad experience... Wanna talk about it/vent?

I've been fortunate enough that most of my experiences have been neutral, so this definitely isn't a universal thing.
I've had docs ask what happened and I respond that it's self harm, that it's unrelated to the medical issue at hand, and that I'm under the care of a psychiatrist and psychologist. They usually let it go at that.

I did have one awful nurse practitioner at a walk in clinic when I went in for a strep throat swab who asked a million questions, suggested religion, and wouldn't stop touching my scars with a look of pity on her face. It felt super invasive and weird, but that was years ago. If that happened now I probably would have stood up for myself more.

That's the good news. Time makes it easier to stand up for yourself and not get flustered in the moment (not saying you didn't stand up for yourself because idk the situation, but it's something I've noticed for myself). Being an adult who docs see as an adult also makes it easier.
