Having been through a number of sudden upheavals in which I believed that I had lost everything, I’m delighted that a few small trinkets followed me.
Two pair of cuff links that were my dad’s. One pair that were mine. Our wedding rings. A lightsaber from a Luke Skywalker action figure, his. A plastic bear that holds a locket of his hair from his first haircut (oh, but he cried!).
Dad. Me. Us. Him. Him. Nothing to toss away. There are memories that I need.
