Now this is just an opinion but it is based on some little knowledge of hypnosis. When a toddler is traumatized severely, and this can be psychologically, aka emotionally, or physically, the toddler will go into shock. That state of shock is exactly the same as a state of hypnosis. All the things that hypnotists have witnessed while having someone under hypnosis, are possible with dissociative disorders. Just like a hypnotist can age regress someone under deep hypnosis, people with dissociative disorders can be any age when they switch back into that state of shock. I personally believe that there are only two states of mind involved with dissociative disorders. One is the normal conscious state and the other is a hypnotic state. In that hypnotic state there can be a different personality involved every time the person is triggered into the hypnotic state, aka triggered back into the state of shock that occurred during the toddler years. That is what I think.
