I don't see anything wrong with that. As long as basic essentials are out of the way, why not spend the money? I mean, the money is going to go somewhere anyways and it sure isn't coming with us to the grave.
At the same time, I am probably the worst person for financial advice. I am terrible with my money. I make decent money, and yet I am still broke half the time because I can't save to save my life and even when I do, it always seems to get spent somewhere on something. I think part of my issue was growing up as a kid. Even though I had decent birthdays and a decent Christmas most years, thanks to my grandparents, my actual parents never really bought us kids anything throughout the year.
Now, I am not trying to say that I wanted to be spoiled, but hear me out. Often times we would go to a grocery store (parents, my two siblings, and myself). We were actually very well-behaved kids. When leaving the store, my parents would buy themself a soda/water and when we would ask for one they would say "no, we have drinks at the house". I think that attributes to my issues with buying stuff when I want it and I see it. Since we did get the essentials, this probably sounds spoiled but I still feel it is attributed. Also, even when people would offer to buy stuff for us my parents would often tell them not to. Maybe this has nothing to do with how I spend my money now, but I feel it does.
I don't have a family of my own, so I am only responsible for myself. If I do ever have a family, my spending habits will have to change. Until then, as long as the bills are paid I am going to splurge as long as I can. I am generous with my money as well, and I don't just spend it on myself, and again I feel that goes back to my childhood and how my mother and step father were. Also, I didn't even mention my real dad (came into my life late) who is such a cheapskate that he would complain about the price of a meal at a restaraunt after eating. Why go, if that's the case? He had me so upset a few times that I even paid for the meal just so he would shuttup.
