I remember we visited one time. And for reasons I still cannot fathom, me and my female cousin had to stay at home while they all went out for tea and a Couple of pints. Now, I had perfect etiquette when eating out. All I can think was that my male cousin would have a playmate and the adults wanted to speak about one of the two us. My family had this deeply entrenched set of values where boys always got more. Hell, my mum could not have made it more obvious that SHE wished that she was "one of the boys." She had this affiliation to stamd up for the man even if it were plain as day that they were the bad one or in the wrong. She did it to me when Fred and I broke up. My grandfather said that Fred was "soft as clarts" for letting me be the named driver on his insurance. At least my cousins mum stands on her side. Unlike mine, who never did.
