I sometimes have occasion to take our dog out for late night walks. (I tend to do this if the weather forecast for the next day is for inclement weather & I'm concerned we may have difficulty getting him out.) Walking around the neighborhood late at night it's dark, quiet & the streets are fairly deserted... at least as much as they ever are in a large metropolitan area. Whenever I do this I always have the urge to tie our dog up somewhere where my wife would easily find him & walk off into the night never to be seen or heard from again.
