Yes professional help is advisable. Sometimes feeling sad about the same thing for too long can make you sad. But sometimes a drop in chemicals can also have the same effect. It was the latter with me. I had to see a psych doc and now though my depression is still there I don't feel numb anymore - and I can even experience happiness once in a while.
