I thought it might have another use here. Sometimes we get triggered or want to react quickly to something happening in a thread here. A person could use Freedom.to (or one of the other website blocking apps) to put PC on block for an hour so they force themselves to calm down and step away, meditate, do whatever. I know sometimes I get drawn into things and then can't make myself step away.

I wanted to share this as a coping technique to help when triggering situations may happen here or other places online. I wasn't sure if others were aware that there are these types of apps out there, that can do this for you. It has really helped me immensely.

Now, I'm off to block PC again so I can get work done!
great suggestion.

feedback in general on your suggestion I dont see many using it that may need it, simply because people are here due to their problems and limiting one self access then who's to say during that time frame something happens and the person wants to talk about it here right away and their access is denied for their specified time frame.... well it could be the difference between some one coming on here vs doing something harmful because they cant get in here due to their self blocking access with this app.

also this site does have a self care feature that many actually choose not to use ... the ignore feature.

my own opinion is if someone isnt going to use the ignore feature because they feel they need to read posts regardless of whether they know that person is triggering or a post has a triggering red spot attached to it or what ever other mental disorders they may have, then dont see this kind of thing working.

most people that I have encountered online anywhere just automatically stay away from websites where they may be having a problem or get angry and leave the website for breaks.

here at psych central I know many who take breaks (including me here) but just dont make a big deal out of their comings and goings or post about their leavings because there is a rule of no good bye posts, most just pm that they are taking a break, so I dont worry about them, then they go for a while...

in other words most that I know here actually do have great self care and do take breaks when they need them (including me here)
