Wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy back, like cave man days...they used to have this method called trepanning...and some days i am so tempted lol, I mean if they could drill holes in their head and go on about business...oo it is the process of drilling a hole in the head.....there was one skull found that had over 13 holes and they showed signs of healing so the person survived. Anthropologists believe the holes were made to relieve pressure for anything under the sun...got cramps? drill a hole...got a broken arm? drill a hole...got a pain in the arse? drill a hole (i hear that only worked half the time, the other half, the mate went on a 'hunting trip') hehe, that was bad...anyway I dunno how they dealt with things in 1800's but it must have been brutal...then again the age to which we live has doubled and therefore we have more time to develop new and painful things, maybe our bodies werent built for medical science to prolong it to...just a thought...melanie
