I have walked a couple miles today. Three quarters of a mile was up hill, sometimes steep for me. As a consequence, my heart went up to 167 bpm. I burned 560 calories. By the end of the day, I will have consumed about 3000 calories. I am trying to gain a couple pounds, so I have increased my calorie intake by 50%, and reduced my exersize by the same percentage. It has been almost a week of this and my weight has remained at 174 to 175 pounds. Once I gain a few pounds, perhaps to 180, I will return to walking four miles every other day. My goal is to be able to run a good distance, let’s say a half a mile to start. That would be awesome. Probably not until sometime next year.

I am using MFP to count calories including calories burned along with the use of a fitness watch to track my walking.
