I don't think there's anything wrong with keeping it simple. If this is about setting an example for your daughter, then maybe the importance of skin care, as in making sure she knows the importance in a good spf moisturizer for the very first thing that she puts on her face after washing her face?
Right now, I believe, that highlights added to foundation is the thing.
I personally keep it simple myself. Moisturizer, mascara and lipstick basically.
