Hi, I'm in California, so bear with me. You don't drive? Here in the States our primary ID is usually a driving license. If a person doesn't drive, that person can pay about $25 and obtain an ID card that looks like a driving license, but is just an ID.

What is a "referee"?

I don't understand what an ID has to do with cash...I'm wondering if, in the UK, an ID is somehow connected to your bank, or...?

Lastly, who doesn't accept cash as payment? Except for sending cash through the mail (never a smart idea), when I was in Europe and Ireland everyone accepted cash.
