My mom did not.
Everybody around here calls them black flies, but I don't know if everybody knows what they're talking about. They're only a problem a couple of weeks in the spring. Whatever they are, I don't feel them when they bite but they leave little crater-like bite marks that itch and weep for 2-3 weeks -- which is unnecessarily annoying. And they sure buzz ferociously around my head.

Overweight sheep. It's not fair really. Because they have a much lower centre-of-gravity and my main concern is being as gentle as I can. They, on the other hand, usually feel that any time is a good time to panic. Of course they don't mean any harm -- bless their little dim-witted hearts.
