I started with walking and stretching too, after years of being too sedentary. That worked out well. I too started with more modest goals and times to try and ensure I stuck with it. I felt it was important to make it a habit I could keep, rather than go all-out right away. That was a year ago and has worked out well for me, so hopefully you find that encouraging.
I'm glad to hear it's making you feel better already.
