Fast forward.....to the age 54 when I left that marriage & moved to a much less stressful environment alone, I can read & retain & understand so much more than all those years that the stressful situations had been fillubg up my mind & not giving it the space it needed to kearn easier & retain what I learned. Go figure, at 65, I am actually thinking about getting a masters degree because I finally feel capable enough.

Not sure this answers your question but it has been my experience.
Thanks eskielover, it really does help. I guess I should change the title, I just realised it's not completely accurate. I actually have the same problem study wise.
