Hmmm... well, not nice fighting can still be abusive. Telling someone to shut up in fact, is abusive. It's derogatory and mean. Yes, you're right -- no one deserves to be spoken to this way. If your convos about the double standards don't get anywhere, then you really don't have a voice in this relationship, I'm afraid. :/
