Do parents know they do these things? Do they understand what they are doing? Do they REALIZE the effects of their actions? Do they KNOW they are abusive?
I don't think they do. I don't think that they would admit that they were abusive. I don't think they remember a single one of the things that added up to piles and piles pf garbage to be sorted for years and years, to be crawled out of and brushed off over and over. I have to say that my parents were good. I HAVE TO. Because saying anything else is too hard. It means more than just saying the opposite. It means something so much heavier and harder. I don't think they belive they ever did anything wrong. How do you forgive someone like that? We have much better relationships now. I don't even see them as the same people any more. As soon as they start to remind me of who they were, I leave the situation. If they still tried to treat me that way I would never see them again. But sometimes I just get so angry. In the middle of the night I want to call my mom up and scream at her and ask her why, and make her appologize. It makes me feel so childish, or maybe it just reminds me of being a child.
