It could mean what everyone has said—those folks want you to see reality as they see it.
Or it could be that the person saying this is worried about you—
For example, acute anxiety can change the way the brain processes info—like you might be full of fear about something when there really is nothing to fear; or you could try to protect yourself by negative talking; or over thinking it…
So, I don’t know…
