You almost certainly won't die from lack of sleep, especially if you're managing at least a few hours a night.
Chances are you need to consider possible changes in your life to help ensure you get a good sleep. This can range from your day's activities, the comfort of your sleep, stress, diet, your night time routine and others.
First, ensure when you go to sleep your room is as dark and quiet as possible, ensure at least 30 minutes before you actually go to sleep you don't watch tv, phone or tablet. Make sure you limit caffeine intake as processing caffeine takes hours, meaning the effect of it may still impact you even if you last had a drink at say 1pm (frankly, I've pretty much given up coffee). Eat a healthy diet and drink water to aid your sleep and consider factors in your life that could potentially affect sleep, such as stress.
I'd also highly recommend trying meditation before sleeping, as it will help you relax.
Finally, it's vital you regulate your times, as you need to regulate your circadian rhythm (body clock) for both health and quality of sleep.
Hope this helps.
