Okay I must preface this with the fact that I am extremely tired, so I don't know how coherent I will be.

So I've been seeing this issue (and perhaps many of you have as well) with chat; That is, nobody seems to be chatting, at least most of the time. There are brief spurts of conversation but it never seems to last long, a stark contrast to the state of chat just a few years ago.

I want to try and resurrect chat. I want to know why people aren't chatting, what's driving them away, and how we can try to make it into something great again.

I can pinpoint when chat started going downhill; When we moved to the new client. I'd love to change to a different client but I'm well aware that's probably not a viable option, so we have to work with what we have to bring some life back into the place.

What are some problems you guys see with chat as it stands? How do you think we can fix them or approach fixing them?
