I think I remember hearing that something like 40% of couples meet in the workplace, so it's not uncommon. I also think that meeting like minded people often on a similar intellectual plane to yourself means feelings can naturally develop.

Ultimately, it's hard to know what is or might be appropriate as I don't know the dynamics of the relationship or your workplace, but it can work out either way. I know people who work with me that met at work and are now happily married over a decade later, whereas others didn't see it work out and now seem to have an awkward relationship.

If you know you both have feelings, it might be worth just having a mature conversation about it and see where that leads
