Well, my T would say there would be a reason for them to hold different views. At some point in time that would have been needed. She would ask
"What is the purpose of x view? What function does that serve for the whole?"
"What is the purpose of y view? What function does that serve for the whole?"

Underneath the differences there will likely be a very important reason for each differently held belief and why it needed to be held separately to its opposite. My T would say that arguing with each other back and forth won't help because there will likely be a very important thing that hasn't been uncovered yet that makes (made) the divide necessary.
