I'm no doctor, but I think this may be "transference". I would think your pdoc would have brought this up with you when you confessed to her. I find that the more I understand my symptoms, the less power they seem to have over me.
BTW, I get this way too though so I understand how you feel. If you can make yourself just think about this a little less often, slowly over time it can pretty much go away. It's tough, but you just kind of have to shut it down in your head a few times at first until your brain understands what you're doing. Then it gets more automatic. This technique helps me anyway.
