Laurie - I am sorry to hear the gabbies aren’t doing the trick.
My experience with melatonin was that it seemed to work for a couple of days and crapped out on me, meaning it was just a fluke.
The only other thing I’ve got is listening to talking. I play long YouTube videos to make myself fall asleep. Talking works best for me. Mellow music is OK but sometimes it makes me feel like I’m awake all night listening (even though I’m apparently not, because when I get up I can’t recall any specific songs, even if I’m listening to my own iPod sleep mix).
White noise machines are good too, but I will never get up. They hypnotize me. If they make them now with timers I guess that might work.
If you have anything that makes a static sound, you could try that.
