It's hard when we have boring routines for a long period but they can become our lifesavers since they are "routine". When I felt most suicidal I helped myself by calling and making a dentist appointment! It was a routine in my life, dentist every 6 months. They can be helpful climbing ropes.
I was watching one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies yesterday, the second one I think, and was amazed at what they did on the island when they were trying to get away from the cannibals? :-) Look at your day-to-day stuff again and see if you can't see it as a tool?
When I was taking computer programming I was wishing I had paid more attention to maths in school, especially Algebra. It all really does count and it feels harder for me at 57 to get practicing something than it might have to do it back then and quit worrying about the stuff outside myself that would change.
