Sleep is the worst since I'm alone with the discomfort and rest often is illusive.

Fortunately I also have strong passions, so my drive to get things done help helps my mind focus on the goal rather than my limitations. My attempts at internet support for these conditions are short lived, because unless I'm learning new solutions, focusing doesn't help. I much prefer to spend time with others who share my positive interests rather than the physical issues.

All the best. I hope you find solutions for your back problem.
Thank you very much. I am trying to pursue my interests but it's hard.

My reasoning isn't solid though- it is bc Gabapentin made my dog wh took it for spondylosis in his back feel weak at a high enough dose to control the pain. Can't they give you something much stronger, and at least give you a breather from the chronic pain?
I'm not crazy about Gabapentin but it seems to help though it makes me wobbly the next day. I'm only on 300 mg. at night. I went to a new pain Dr. who wanted to give me some kind of opiod patch but I asked for Nucynta which my other pain Dr. had suggested. That's an opiod too. However, it costs $700 for a month. That's what he wrote the Rx for. No generic. I chose not to get it as there are other meds and that one is new anyway so I could btry something else.

I saw the geriatric psychiatrist Friday so I started Cymbalta ( duloxetine) yesterday. It's an antidepressant and also pain medicine for nerve pain. I'm nauseous and shaky from that plus gabapentin ( she says stay on that too). This is the first pdoc I've liked! She's nice and compassionate. I can call the office any time though I might get her nurse. I don't think I can drive taking this, at least now. Yesterday I felt really dizzy/weak so I have to see if I can tolerate it. I hate meds but I hate being in pain!
