I saw the geriatric psychiatrist Friday so I started Cymbalta ( duloxetine) yesterday. It's an antidepressant and also pain medicine for nerve pain. I'm nauseous and shaky from that plus gabapentin ( she says stay on that too). This is the first pdoc I've liked! She's nice and compassionate. I can call the office any time though I might get her nurse. I don't think I can drive taking this, at least now. Yesterday I felt really dizzy/weak so I have to see if I can tolerate it. I hate meds but I hate being in pain!

I have a friend who takes Cymbalta, and he swears by in for pain. That sounds promising. I am glad you have the option of that hard-hitting med, and that they do take you very seriously . I am sorry you asked for one you didn't end up affording, but I still think you should consider a strong option to give yourself a pain break for several weeks, so you can experience a mood lift too.
