I am sorry this happens.....it is the normal greetings I have noticed even on the phone....& anytime one encounters another person they know in the store or on the street. It is rather a common curtesy statement that people say......not that they really truely care How are You? or Are you OK?.....sadly, this has become just an introductory phrase that has become commonly used by everyone....whether they really care or not.....or if they really want to know or not.

Don't you just hate when meaningless words become the norm?

I just tend to let it slide, knowing what is reality those words actually are.

I agree with you....no one wants to know that you aren't ok & the explaination as to why you aren't really ok & never have been ok is way too long for a chat room anyway.

If you look at languages all around the world, they are filled with irrelevant, meaningless phrases that are just the niceities that have become standard to open a conversation with.

I always thought when I was in Italy how strange to answer the phone with "pronto". What is the world does that mean anyway? Fast, speed it up?????.....it isn't even a real word for hello....go figure....language & the use of phrases are strange & have evolved forever.

Please don't get your feathers too ruffled....I'm sure they don't mean to be rude.....but it is good that you graceiously point out your feelings about the usage of this phase & how it bothers you.....it is good when something bothers you to be able to express it & I acknowledge the fact that you are able to do this.

You have my respect,
Debbie
