Who knows why your sister disclosed this to you mother? I do not think that your sister would have acted out of maliciousness but more likely she either slipped and told or was concerned lately and felt the need to tell. I really don't know and am not making any excuses for either or their behaviour.

As for possession and DID? I've heard of far too many people thinking that is the case and intelligent educated people too. So that is one more of those awful misconceptions about DID that needs mythbusting.
