You did what you had to, and what I would have done. You took care of your daughter and yourself. The person you had to walk away from has to make their own choice because they are an adult and need to make that decision to either let the abusive person rule them, or walk away.

It is sad and very painful, but I stand by your decision (not that you need anyone's approval).
