I never had a therapist tell me their job was to instill confidence in me or to provide me with resources to help myself. People hire therapists for different things.
A lot of people want a picture of the therapist or look at the picture of the therapist on their website etc. It is not unusual from what I have read.
No need to be meanly harsh or judgmental just because someone wants something different than you do. Talking about ones wants, regardless of whether it is something that will be able to be satisified, is something a lot of people use this forum for and it does not mean logically they do not understand the difference. Therapists are not harmed by these feelings.
