I feel similarly sometimes. I'm a technical writer, but my background is not in a technical field. I have a BA in French and an MA in English. So I know how to write, but I'm supposed to write about technical things I don't really understand. Luckily, usually I only have to edit things engineers write and I can usually handle that.
