I do not understand why my psychiatrist prescribes me medications against depression. It took me years to trace what causes depression in me and found out that it's my personality disorders - avoidant personality and social phobia.

These two are to blame and are the root cause of my depression, yet I do not understand why my psychiatrist prescribes me medications not for them but for depression.

If personality disorder is to treat, why does he not prescribe medications against disorders that I have?
