Here's one website with some information on ECT: The International Society for ECT and Neurostimulation
I've had ECT twice, 22 treatments each time. Unfortunately for me even though it had some very brief benefits the confusion cognitive problems and memory issues were too severe so treatments were stopped each time. They tried 2 different types of ECT about 4-5 months apart. It helps to have a good support person while you're going through treatments. Even though it didn't work out for me I know it can be life saving for many people. So as other people have said do some research and see if you feel it's something you feel in your heart is worth trying. I hope things work out for the best for you.
