Oh sure I can come up with things like.....vanilla ice cream, air conditioning during a hot day. IDK I think those are just things you list that you are grateful for. Day in an day out all I see is the inhumane things we do to each other, the animals of this planet and the environment. I stay away as much as I can from social media and the news. I wake up everyday trying to just function and do a job so I can come home and have food I do not even want to eat, pay rent so I am not sleeping on the streets, save money for retirement (if that can even happen) that I will most likely wont enjoy as I will need back surgery or cancer what other old age ailment.

I do not see the purpose of all the struggling.

When a child’s emotional needs are not met and a child is repeatedly hurt and abused, this deeply and profoundly affects the child’s development. Wanting those unmet childhood needs in adulthood. Looking for safety, protection, being cherished and loved can often be normal unmet needs in childhood, and the survivor searches for these in other adults. This can be where survivors search for mother and father figures. Transference issues in counseling can occur and this is normal for childhood abuse survivors.
