For me, the purpose of the struggling is that I have learned a lot working my way through the messes I had and created in my life so I could one day, hope to encourage others like me learn to make better choices in their lives.

My life today is so different than it was when I was drinking and drugging. I am truly happy today and have wonderful people in my life. I wasn't happy or had wonderful loving people in my life when I was using and badly depressed. It took a ton of work on my personal growth to quit bad habits and learn more productive ones. It is doable, but it requires a solid commitment.
