For all the inhumane treatment I have been involved in animal rescue, cared for 3 abused stallions. We have a whole group of women in our town that are involved when the need arises.
Yes, the world is messed up but if we can at least make a difference in our own community at least the world around ourselves can be improved.
I agree with Happy Camper.....going through what I did (not alcohol or drugs) I have learned so much about mental health I never knew anything about until major depression & anxiety hit me hard when I was in my early 40's. Being in & out of hospitals gave me an understanding & empathy I never imagined before that.
Gettong out of the bad marriage I was in was like a miracle in turning around my life....but it took me making a huge change in my life. Today I am surrounded by awesome caring people who actually check up on me to see how I am doing especially when challinging situations hit.
For me, having caring & wonderful people as friends has made life just in general really worth living.....my woodsy critters & the mommy & baby raccoons that visit are a highlight too.
I have a very caring special dog who senses everything & when I meed comfort. The other morning he layed his head on my shoulder before we got up for the day & he put his paw on my chest. His caring sensitivity has been thete all his life. That special part of my life makes it awesome.
Also, I learned so much about myself in therapy & finally was able to put words to my emotions. I have learned so much about my past & have grown & learned to be wiser in my choices. That has made a huge difference too. There are so many things that have changed in my life these last 11 healing years that have made my life wonderful & it will be even better when I finally get my divorce over & have to have norhing more to do with him.....that will take life to a whole new freedom level
