You are speaking my language (if that makes sense). I just mean that I completely understand how you feel. As I read your post I felt like I was reading about myself. You are so not alone in how you feel.
From what I understand that all depends on the individual. I believe different therapies work for different people (as well as depending on what your needs are). I have a friend who has been working with DBT (Dialectical behavior therapy) for a few years. She suggested it to me. I may try that or Cognitive behavioral therapy. I will also work on self care.
