Hey. I don't really know anything about macs. I just got my first one just after christmas so was spending a lot of time reading various mac forums trying to figure out how to use it lol.

the mac rumours forum seems pretty good with advice (fairly swift, too).
the mac forum associated with the official online mac store seems pretty good with advice, too (fairly swift, once again). The second one might have less to say about a consumer modified computer, however.

I guess I'd try describing the problem with them.

I've heard that the mac genius people can be really good when you are covered under the warrantee / support period - but they can charge like ninety bucks per hour labour to take a look at something outside the warrantee / support period.

There are people on the forums who have made their own macs, so they might be able to help you out.
