I want so much to email my therapist, but she left town suddenly to be with her child who had just had her first grandchild.

Go ahead and email her, I say.
The amount of stuff you’re dealing with is just....
I don’t know your insurance situation but for my stuff, I went ahead and got two different “second” opinions (so on total three opinions) from not just specialists but very specialized specialists.
Two of those places are actually ranked among the top places in the country but I was like whatevs, it is my health.
A couple of the docs got super pissed and like grade-school sulky that I’d gkne to other docs (they could see it from the common medical software system) but I basically just ignored it — turned out that while the overall broad assessment was pretty similar, the specific nuances on how they wanted to treat me were crucially different.
If at all you can do it, I highly recommend the practice of getting second, third or even fourth opinions (assuming you haven’t already done it — in which case, totally ignore the above soapbox piece).
