I had an absolutely
horrible nickname as a child that lasted through my high school years. I was able to drop it at uni, yet my first name can be — and often still is — easily and frequently shortened. And I loathe the shortened ‘nickname.’
Rumor has it that my childhood nickname was the first word that I spoke — the name of a retired stunt rider who took me on equestrian romps on the beaches of San Diego County. Poo on him.
