Hi, Chamb. I don't have kids so...for what it's worth...

If she's lost interest in school, is it possible that a change in program would help? I work at a technical college where kids change direction all the time. There are so many choices! Also, there are grants that cover almost all costs (tuition, books, and sometimes even childcare), so most of our students graduate without debt and great career prospects. Of course, your daughter is living in an apartment, so that's probably expensive.

Just an idea here, but if there's on-campus housing, maybe she would be better off surrounded by peers? Dorm living is lots of fun (it was for me, anyway), and, as a college student, I personally wouldn't have had the maturity to manage cohabitating with a boyfriend...which is, essentially, the same as jumping into a marriage and playing house without any real commitment. As liberated as young people claim to be nowadays, maybe she took on more than she could handle (although, as you say, she did well in her classes, so she obviously has the smarts to succeed).

I hope everything works out well for both of you.
