My husband is very tall and large so we have to get something he fits in. We have a Mercury Grand Marquis because I had a couple of those before and we know he fits and I had another Grand Marquis picked out and a Sable, just in case he fit in that (nope :-) I also had a Ford Explorer which he had had 3 of before I made him buy the Grand Marquis! He was wanting the 4th one a few years ago and I made him go with the "car"/Grand Marquis rather than the "truck" and we got a good deal on it so he did. He doesn't like getting in and out of it, bumps his head, but once he gets in he's fine.

So on my list was the Ford Explorer and a Ford Escape but he didn't fit that either, like not fitting the Sable. So, I bought the Explorer. He fits in Cadillacs but they didn't have any of those in the price I was looking for ($12-15,000) that were recent enough and under 50,000 miles, etc. I let him choose whether I should buy another Grand Marquis or the Explorer and he marginally wanted the Explorer so now we have two vehicles again, which are interchangeable.

Of course, a month after buying it the Emissions testing paper came from DMV and we paid cash for it but then decided to finance it through our bank so that was a bit of a hassle putting a lien on (bank and DMV kept having/demanding different/more paperwork so it took 3 tries at DMV). But now it's all squared away. It's a nice cherry red, cloth seats instead of leather like we like but it's great, I like sitting up high again. And it's late enough model so the rollover stuff has been fixed, etc.
