I imagine and hope he will call you again one of these days and you will be able to tell him about the little one and try again to figure out how to contact him every now and then or to have him contact you every now and then through the years.

Do not stress. He has lived on the streets before? He probably can handle it again and will probably figure out a way to get out of the rain if he wants.
